Care Companion Education Program

Our program is designed to promote and encourage Care Companions to provide quality of life and comfort for loved ones or their clients. The care can be delivered in the community, long term care facilities, retirement homes, and in the client’s home.

The goal of Care Companions is providing emotional support and socialization, with a variety of tasks to help older adults.

Care Companions must:

  • Adhere to client’s rights, be responsible, caring, and flexible with strong communication and planning skills, sympathetic, attentive, and detail oriented with innovative activities.
  • Be individuals with experience in household management for non-medical, in-home support services, including home management (light housekeeping, laundry, bed-making, trash removal).
  • Be able to plan and prepare meals and grocery shop.
  • Provide client transportation, (errands, appointments, shopping trips), valid Class E Drivers’, Valid automobile insurance and willing to travel throughout their communities.
  • Maintain client confidentiality, a safe environment and comply with therapeutic boundaries and safety policies.
  • Must be able to walk, sit and stand for extended period of time, must be able to reach and lift, carry and transport objects of various sizes up to 25 lbs. (11.34 Kilos) and lift objects up to 30lbs (13.06 kilos).
